I Was Too Tired -- Yoga Pose of the Week: Lion Pose

I was so tired last night that I posted things out of order, and forgot to find the photo that "M" and I discussed needing for our Yoga Pose of the Week....

Lion Pose.

Allow me to take a moment to wonder why any yogi, no matter how well meaning, would allow themselves to be photographed in this pose.

The action is a rapid exhale, accompanied by extension of your fingers and tongue while making a crazy face and a kind of roaring "ha" noise. (The eye crossing in this photo must be strictly optional. We don't practice this pose often in my tradition, thus, thankfully, I'll never be photo'd in it.)

Benefits include relief of tension in the face (we've got lots of muscles in our faces), rapid diaphragmatic action (which can have all kinds of powerful effects on your lungs, and I might guess even your digestion) and not to mention the value of inappropriate laughter. If hearty enough, the health benefits are just as potent as those of appropriate laughter.

"M" picked this pose because it inappropriately resembles Jack's convulsions. (Which she inappropriately finds humorous. I actually think that "M"s humorous view of this sad, albeit fictional, circumstance is a masking sort of laughter that relieves the tension of something much deeper...the potential end of "M"s relationship with Jack....sob.)

Until next week...

Bauer faux kill count = 0
Resurrections = 1
Thwarted staged suicide = 1 you go First Man
Honorary womanhood revoked (possibly) = 1 from the First Man, he grew a pair while paralyzed

Questions:
So where is Chloe's hubby, Morris? How is watching the baby right now while Chloe is out playing with Jack? What is Morris doing nowadays, it must be something with good benefits to allow Chloe to be a stay-a-home-mom. "A" hopes that he's not a banker, because he won't have a job long with the ecomony going the way it is.

We think that they showed everything good that is going to happen in the previews, so therefore we have no predictions. Wait wait we have one! we do believe that the Gov of Illinois Rod Blogo will not be showing us his real hair, not even to get out of being impeached or removed from office! And that will be happening pretty soon.

Another question from "A": WTH (the h is for "heck") is going on with the supposed torture investigation? Or are those agents just on a lunch break?

What do "M" and "A" Want for Christmas?

Maybe the DVD of 24 Redemption?

No, nothing that easy to deliver. Instead, we want a 24 holiday special. A Very Special Episode of 24. Kim making spiced cider for everyone Jack just rescued, Audrey coming back to meet Jack under the mistletoe...maybe a cameo by Bobby Brady, you get the picture.

OK, here's the recap.

Dammit = 1
Stupid Women = ?
Evil Women = at least one
Handsome Bad Guys >1 (though because M wasn't watching, we didn't count)
Loose Ends for the Full Season?
. UN Guy, he's still not dead
. The President's Son is definitely in Danger
. Tony is apparently not dead. What about Nina?
. And "M" read on Dave Barry's site that Dave won't believe that Audrey is dead until they stake her.
. Jack's Body Count? At least 15 or 16. Sadly, no sign of the guy from the Jack Bauer 24 Kill Count website...
. What about Chloe and Morris? If Tony comes back, can we please see Eggar again, even if it is a dream sequence?

And will Jack be able to get some sleep on the copter? He's gonna need a nap before his next Very Bad Day!

Signing off for now. "M" and I will be together over Christmas. Maybe we can put seasons 1-6 on at 8X, watch the whole shebang in a day, and we'll then be able to remember who is dead and who is alive!

"M"'s Browser is Now Frozen

That's because she was reading Dave Barry's Blog instead of posting here.

Dave, you were our inspiration. Glad you're out there.

(I haven't looked at the Jack Bauer 24 Kill Count site to see if they are still out there.)

Is the President's son going to be shot? Is that going to be the linchpin of Jack's Next Very Bad Day?

LPK and KieferKate, Thanks for joining us live. That was fun!!!!

Perimeter... Jack is pinned down

But at least he is on Point and that was a quality kill.

Fayed is going to get his ass kicked by the blue collar white guys...

Nice kick. The hubby said "Everyone stop hurting my prisoner, that is my job!!"

Confirmed: All the lovable characters die

David Palmer, Egger, Curtis (by Jack's own hand!), even Terri wasn't horrible and I actually do miss Nina. You loved to hate her.... I wonder who will be next. I hope it's not Morris. I think he is dreamy too.

PS I'm putting a perimeter around my dinner. I'll be back shortly after it starts!

Previously on 24 3 PM- 4 PM

Well, the fact that the last 15 minutes of Veronica Mars that "A" missed packed more of a punch in both excitement AND plot advancement leaves us, well me anyways, wondering why oh why do we do this to ourselves week after week, sometimes for TWO hours at a time. Sigh, but I digress.

The kill count went up by two this episode, but still it leaves us wanting for more action or plot advancement. Anyway to bring us up to speed. I missed the first 15 minutes or so, but I think I've got it all covered. Nothing much seemed to happen except the "Previously on 24".

Milo and Marilyn get away in the SWAT van, but practically get blowed up real good. Milo takes a round in the arm. All I want to know is why is Milo in the field. He's an IT guy. They don't send me out in the field with the SWAT team nor do they give me a gun (I'm a pretty good shot too!). It's just not fair. But again, I digress.

Jack saves them both to all of our surprise. He threatens Marilyn and she buckles telling Jack that she didn't do it on purpose, Dear Old George, I mean Dad/Phil made her do it because he has Jack's nephew/son. Philly baby is threatening to kill Josh if Weena Rena Marilyn doesn't do as he says. George is still in desperate need of hair gel and a hair cut.

Tom says that he is with Reed and get a guy in to do the deed. But as I suspected Tom is having a change of heart. After a meeting with the Prez, where the Prez says that he still values his opinion, Tom goes back to Reed to stall. Tom calls the Super Secret Service agent but Reed is listening and then cold clocks Tom with a flash light. That is going to leave Tom with a super headache and a good sized lump. Reed cancels Tom's meeting the the SS agent and ties him up in the boiler room. I think that duct tape was involved.

Morris continues to feel sorry for himself and isn't all Tickety Boo. He almost falls off the wagon but he stops himself before falling into the gutter. I think he is wishing that he set up that self destruct program or run once program for the nukes. Oops, his bad.

Jack heads to the hotel room where Josh is being held. Josh over heard Granddad talking to Jack and Marilyn and tries to go "get a soda" from a vending machine. Josh was totally smooth, he gets that from Jack. But Granddad is onto him and pulls the gun. Jack gets to the hotel room and they are GONE. Marilyn and Jack exchange many smoldery glances. Jack swaps himself for Josh in the building across the way and is subsequently held at gun point. He thinks his dad is going to do him in finally. As Jack is going on and on and on about being sorry for turning his back on the family while he was away at Chinese Prison where his brother Graem helped send him, Phil with the bad hair gets away.

Jack leaves and gets a message from former President Logan who looks as though he is in exile somewhere. (Is the first lady still with him, or is she with the handsome secret service agent? What is with the bad facial hair?) Logan says he can help. We are all left wondering what he wants in return. That is the quick recap. "A" did I miss anything?

Previously on 24: Hour 7

Ok, let's see what I remember from last week. (It was a busy week at work, I didn't have much time to think about 24.)

Jack's brother (and some random henchmen) try to kill Jack and his dad. You can watch video of Jack and Dad's suspend-your-disbelief escape at vanlandw's Jack Bauer 24 Kill Count website. (Watch Dad's hair...hello, have you heard of gel? Hair products are not just for women any more.)

After Jack's 3rd kill of the season, he and Dad take Grae back to Grae's McMansion for a medical interrogation.

(Un-freaking believeable. Interesting article in today's NY Times magazine about the fact that many executions by lethal injection are botched because of inadequate medical knowledge of the executioners, and a refusal by most medical professionals to participate in executions. It does give me hope that CTU's "medical interrogation" is a Fox Network fiction. But I digress.)

First, dreamy Rena Sofer and Jack's nephew/son have to be taken back to CTU. (Partly so that Rena can get back to work over at Heroes.)

Rena gives Jack/Grae's dad an ultimatum to protect the spawn of Bauer. Leading us to wonder, what does the kid (whose name I can't remember) know? (And again, Marilyn Bauer: stupid, or evil? I vote evil.) And Dad's hair flaps in the breeze here, too -- I guess that he doesn't know that the bad guys of 24 are sexy because they are bald! Let it go, Dad!

Then, Jack threatens to cause Grae more pain that he could ever imagine. Ha. Had Jack forgotten about the trick with the bag from the Jewel?

He gets some kind of info from Grae. Oh, yeah, Grae confesses that he had Tony, Michele and President Palmer (the adult one) killed last season. (Did he confess that he and Dad sent Jack to China? I can't remember.)

Jack is truly upset. He takes off. (I can't remember where he went! Maybe off to shower or go to the bathroom.) Wherever he goes, he is certifiably in a World Of Pain (aka WOP).

There is a whole thing where CTU intercepts a phone call that took place 5 minutes ago between Fayed (still looking hot in the balding terrorist 24 way) and the guy from Wisconsin who is inconsistently affecting an Australian accent. They need to get the triggers to the other 4 suitcase nukes set, and only one guy will know how to do it...but he won't be readily cooperative.

The hooker-y looking evil chick is there with Wisconsin-boy in some fancy hotel, suitably outside the fallout zone, I guess. Or maybe by 2012, in addition to the most comfortable mattresses known to man and the cushy white bathrobes, the Four Seasons will have special anti-terrorist features that protect the guests from fallout.

While we wonder whether the uncooperative techie will turn out to be Jack's son (I always wish for a teenaged boy around the house when it comes time to program my VCR, set up i-Tunes, and other techie tasks), we head back to CTU.

Chloe's ex gets a call that his brother has been rushed to the hospital with nucular-ly induced health issue. Morris is unable to summon the equanimity shown by Eggar last season when his mom was stricken by some terrorist based malady (what was that, was it the canisters?) and he takes off.

We go back to Grae's pad, where Jack's dad promptly kills him off. Now that Jack's back, who needs Grae? Then he starts to cry and accuses CTU of killing Grae. (But he wasn't wearing gloves when he injected the drug into the IV line, so how about that?)

Poor Jack, he may not find out until next season that Dad offed Grae. He'll take it on himself. (More WOP!)

Then Morris gets grabbed by the bad guys. Jack's son wasn't the reluctant techie, Morris was! (And so what for Milo, treating Morris like some kind of lackey. I bet that Milo doesn't know how to arm, or disarm, a suitcase nuke! It remains to be seen whether he has yet disarmed Chloe -- literally or figuratively.)

Oh, yeah, Sandra Palmer breaks Walid out of the detention center and into a private room in a hospital. "M" and I wonder whether Sandra and Walid are special friends or not. And it looks like he has a good HMO: "M", I think your instinct is right -- who does he really work for?

President Palmer goes against the Numbers guy's idea to initiate military rule. (Or whatever.) And we're introduced to the apparently evil Vice President.

"W", better start counting your remaining moments...you shouldn't have let Karen go. How much damage could the press have done in the next 18 hours, given their consumption with the nucular attack? Buddy, you just lost your last friend in the White House. (Unless you have a dog.)

And watch out for Chad Lowe. Whether or not he and the guy from Numbers are special friends, he is not on your side.

Karen's out of commission for the next 3 episodes because she's flying to LA to be blowed up with Bill. I agree with "M". Karen Hayes: stupid, not evil.

That's all I can remember. It wasn't the greatest episode. Hopefully it will turn out to advance the plot.

Open questions: where is Audrey, and when will she be back to set up a perimeter? (I read on some other site that Jack would find out that she's in China! But that was supposed to happen last week.) How about Kim? Suburban Mom and Brent -- are they just gone? Will Milo get in trouble for giving his password and ID to Nadia, and will we find out any time soon whether she is stupid or evil?

And who is Jack's mom gonna turn out to be? Will we have to wait until next season to see her, I don't know, maybe execute Jack's dad for euthanizing the weak Grae? (Or, maybe Karen will turn out to be Jack's mom!)

And aargh, 2 hours tomorrow. "M", anything else?

Jack's Body Count This Season = 2 so far

Check out Jack Bauer 24 Kill Count.

It gives episode, name (when known, although some characters have names like "Random Nina Lackey"), method (vampire bite) and weapon (when applicable).

The guy who made this site, vanlandw, is a resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan, where winter is a more brutal killer than Jack Bauer...here's his list of favorite 24 kills.

He should know!
