Recap
Dammit = 1 (Mr. President)
Women Proven Stupid or Evil = 0 -- although Simone, definitely co-dependent
Desk jockeys running point =1
Perimeter = 0
Handsome black men killed = TBD. We may have lost Steve.
Improbable convos between the Leader of the Free World and mid-level bureaucrats/field agents = several
Tender love story plotlines = 2
Jack is so back. Giving ultimatums (ultimata?) to the President. Touching foreheads with Awwwdrey. Giving his word. Offering to save the world. And Mr. President goes all tactical. So 24.
Is Tate Donovan bound to turn out to be a bad guy? Or just to be bested by Jack? Will we see the British PM and his blonde factotum again, and will she turn out to be either stupid or evil?
Will the treaty with the British fall through? And if so, will it be war?
Will Kim Bauer turn up? Will anyone lament Eggar's absence? (Bring back Nina! Bring back Nina!)
Lots of people on Twitter are commenting that Jack didn't have much screen time. Are they setting up Kate (aka #ChuckChick...wish I had made that one up) to be Jack's successor?
What would rock more than Jack Bauer? 24 with a female protagonist.
Next week, it looks like Mr. President authorizes Jack to save the world.
Bloop, bloop!

RIP, Desk Jockey
Benjamin Bratt, not long for the 24-verse...sigh.
(I hope he doesn't take Kate's handsome partner with him. Handsome black men have had a better survival rate on this season of 24 vs. prior years.)
And with Jack in exile, what year is it on 24? 2020? If so, what was up with Chloe asking Kate to upload via 4G?
Did net neutrality really die?

Desk Jockey
Benjamin Bratt will be running point on the invasion of the terrorist's estate.
In a suit and tie.

Awwdrey's Husband
Why haven't I figured out what his job is. Is he the Veep?
Might he be another Evil Veep, as I saw intimated on Twitter?

Sadly...
We have had no calls for a Perimeter this season. (And I haven't taken time to figure out how to link Twitter to Blogger. There's gotta be a way.)

That's a Wrap!
OK. This was old school 24. Though the body count is thus far pretty low.
Dammit = 1
Women Proven Stupid = 1 (formerly Evil Simone)
Women Proven (newly) Evil = 0
Bauer Kills = 0, and in fact Jack seems to be taking care
Perimeter = 0
Improbable Convos between the US President and wanted terrorists =1
Handsome Black men killed = 0
Awwwdrey, still undeniably stupid. Where did she find that husband?
Kate, possibly neither stupid nor evil, though that would go down as a first in 24 Land. (Well, other than Chloe.)
Lady Stark, flippin' crazy, creepy, and talk about Scary Mommy. She's the one that makes Fortune 500 boards keep the female CEO's reined in at the 3% level. Lean in, indeed.
Questions: how did they get the drone pilot to London so quickly? Why does the secure comms room at the embassy have any USB ports? How did Chloe find her way to this Hacker Squad? When will President Heller lose it?
Is there a Vice President?
Will I be able to come up with emblematic yoga poses for each episode this season? (This week, maybe something with fingers?)
And where the heck is my sister? I can't blog this alone! (And I suspect that there's some blog housekeeping to be done to truly catch up, now that we remember how to login to Blogger.)
Until next week.

Dammit!
Don't go in the server room, Jack. Whatever you do.
I'm a little blurry on how Tanner could be in London already. Where was the drone base he was on 3 hours ago? Beyond how the US government could decide to agreed to turn a US service member over to the British in that timeframe.
Remember how Jack got from the west side to Queens and back in an hour?
Yeah.

Dammit indeed
This was me, last night.
I had been so satisfied with my divorce from Time Warner Cable and newfound romance with new kid in town, Aereo.
Dear Aereo, your customer service people did not solve my problem. They "responded" but failed to actually respond. Both by Twitter and by email.
You have that scent of barely out of college startup, so attractive to a tech cougar...and yet so unable to deliver on an adult interaction.
Sigh.
In the meantime, I'll have to catch up on my dammits, perimeters (any perimeters last night?) and creepy stylings of Lady Stark and her co-dependent daughter.
"M" was in the process of catching up last night...

Blog Another Day
Sigh. A real time response was too much to hope for from Aereo.
I will live to blog another day.
I will live to blog another day.
Double Dammit
Well, I was going to chortle about having vanquished Time Warner Cable, via Aereo.
Dammit if Aereo has failed on me for the first time since I got the service (in January)
Sigh.

Sigh.
Dammit!
The blogger UI has changed since the intrepid ladies of 24 last blogged.
Yikes.
We live tweeted the opening episode, rather than blogging. Good for engaging with others, lots of fun 24 denizens. Not so much for the flow.
That said, did the first 2 episodes -- 4 hours of Jack Bauer's life -- really make any sense at all?
The best was that Jack didn't say a word for much of the first episode. He glowered. He trotted out the stony-faced sneer.
He got captured to (sort of) rescue Chloe. There are tons of new people, Awwdrey is back. Chloe rocks the dusky eye look.
3 dammits, no perimeters, 2 women proven Evil and not Stupid (Caitlyn Stark and her daughter, the faux Russian hooker)...at least one handsome Black man who we fear might not make it...
We're not sure about the story line, we can't remember who some of the people are.
Gack, it's time!

Jack must have invented this technology
They say it's just theoretical, but I think that Jack has been using Quantum Entangled batteries for 8 seasons! They say there is truth in fiction.... Can't wait for Jack to come back!!!!

12?
"M" and I are beside ourselves with excitement. Jack will be back. From today's NY Times:
To do list:
Fox said “24: Live Another Day” would stick with the show’s original conceit, a 24-hour clock, but would skip some hours and condense others to fit into the 12-hour format. Kevin Reilly, the chairman of Fox Broadcasting, told reporters on a Monday morning conference call that 12 hours “is the perfect form” for “24” this time around because the spine of the past seasons had about 12 hours worth of action, with “little events and connective tissue in between.”Unbelieveable.
To do list:
- Try to remember anything that happened during previous seasons. Perhaps via epic bingewatching weekends on Netflix will help us to recall whether Jack was even still alive at the end of last season.
- "A" will have to figure out how to actually watch live, since she cut the cord right around the time that 24 gave up the ghost.
- "M" will have to see if she can still login to Blogger. And both "M" and "A" will have to figure out the new Blogger UI. Ugh. This looks like a Word document.
- We'll have to see if our gentle readership is still out there. All 8 of you. (Tai, where are you?)
