"M", Right Again!

She does look like Daryl Hannah in Clan of the Cave Bear.

And Jack, mentioning James Heller. Come back, William Devane!!!

Is she going to tear his throat with her teeth?

Can't be good for the Crazy Lady

Somehow I don't see running the crazy lady through a dark hallway, with big flashing lights, and louds alarms can be all that good.

Chloe is rogue i bet

And now Nadia is totally losing control of Ricky and CTU

Big Peter McNichol Fan

I have become a HUGE Peter McNichol fan! This guy says more with his face then the Evil Veep can attempt to say as a ventriloquists dummy (thats what he looks like). Peter really has come a long way from GhostBusters II, new gained respect.

Remember what I said?

That the evil Veep is going to kill the blonde toady!

The hubby just said, Um Mr. Vice President, your balls are in the jar right over there! LOL

I'm Sleeping With Her Too!

No, not me, I don't swing that way. (But maybe I'm the only one who isn't sleeping with her!)

But I was typing that just as Evil Veep slid that statement out from between his stony lips. Now he's showing his tender side...he's been betrayed by the very woman who helped him to get over the death of his wife.

And way to go Tom, for your ability to think quickly on your feet. You can turn Blonde Toady's treachery to the advantage of the Evil Veep, yourself, and hopefully the American people.

Sleeper hold! Jack just put Ricky down. (Not permanently, we hope. He looked like he was being gentle.) After 2 years in Chinese prison, and being sent away to die, he still has his keycard to get into medical?

And now he's kidnapping Awwwdrey???

Awwdrey in Medical getting prepped

I think they might need Jack's Man Purse do help with a medical interrogation. Yay there is Jack. I'm still waiting for Bill to go rogue and get Jack outta dodge.

A Medical Interrogation of Awwwdrey?

The shrink appears to be as dull of a tool as Ricky....

Maybe Awwwwdrey is an actual bomb. Or the shrink is a bad guy who can trigger her to do something evil. (a la Manchurian Candidate...)

Enter Morris with the expertise! (I bet)

The Chinese need a guy with expertise, I bet they are going to go after Morris when he is on teh way back to the liquor store.

The hubby says Morris is the leak. Maybe he will give Awwdrey the post hypnotic suggestion to set her off on her rampage?

oops correction here at 825 central time.... The Hubby said that the blonde was the leak and he was rightity right.. I mentioned Morris was the leak. I was too excited in my bloggings. Sorry Hubby! Maybe you should join us blogging instead of lurking :o)

Hello, Morris? Cheng here!

The Russians recommended you for your ability to hack nucular weapons!

Oh, please. Maybe Chloe should take this call for tech support.

Eeeeewwww!

Blonde Toady has a twenty-eight year old boyfriend! (She's definitely not stupid.)

LPK, this must be the steamy scene you didn't want the kids to see!

Evil Veep wants Karen

I think he wants an additional blonde toady.

The Russian President Wants a Face-to-Face with Evil Veep!

So does Blonde Toady!

Ricky, Not Tender or Particularly Ruthless

"Ms. Raines, Jack bought your freedom with some highly sensitive information." Ricky, showing that he's not all that sensitive. Or smart. Hello, she's catatonic!!!!

He's no Jack Bauer.

And Nadia, definitely not showing the softer side of herself. She's gone all B-word Goddess!

Awwwdrey is catatonic

And I believe that Tai is right that it's really not that she is catatonic. I think that she has been brainwashed to say that to Jack over and over again. She even said "help me Jack..." to Ricky. They are going to bring her back to CTU and she will be the new mole. That is my guess with Tai's help

The Gang's Here

Let's get ready for some blogging!

Watching the recap, I forgot about the Chloe/Morris yawn-a-thon last week. Just seeing it in the recap made me feel like taking a little nap.

Previously On 24: 6.5 Potential Plot Moves

Ok, last week was in some ways lame. But in other ways, the writers have made moves that may have set the stage to advance the plot...

1. Karen, still weak from her time at the airport reading women's interest magazines, fired her own husband from his job to save her own job. I don't understand that completely, since she was quick to resign earlier in the season. (Maybe she had a film gig for a few weeks? I finally saw Syriana on Netflix...it was brilliant but I digress...and she had an extremely similar role. Maybe the directors of The Queen are doing Margaret Thatcher's life story next, with Karen in the title role. But I digress again.)

Karen's hand was forced because Chad Lowe has surfaced. In kind of a cool effect, actually, he appears on a laptop screen threatening to bring down the administration because Bill had caught, and released, one of the terrorists (yawn, I can't remember which one) back during season 3 or 4.

This sets the stage for Bill to go all rogue with Jack. The 24 Blog would heartily endorse this plot move.

2. A new character, the unfortunately named but fine looking Peter Hock, is introduced. He is the one who pressures Karen into firing Bill.

This one is a wild card. Hock may not be eeeevil but he sure is Machiavellian. But that is DC for you.

3. As Bill leaves CTU, he leaves Nadia in charge. She moves up from her job in IT (where she was only authorized to set a perimeter) to management (where she can shout "Pursue and Engage" into a telephone, presumably winding up in the ears of hundreds of tac team members). And I'm not sure that I understand this. How did Nadia get seniority over Milo? And how does the guy being escorted out by security get to designate his successor?

This sets the stage for Nadia -- if a mole -- to do something eeeevil. And if she is stupid, but not evil, she can let some high security clearance intel slip during pillow talk with Milo the next time they suck face in the server room. (Milo will then turn out to be evil. Which would at least make his character a bit more interesting. Petulance is far more attractive in a man when he is eeeevil.)

4. Speaking of sucking face, The Evil Veep and Blonde Toady get up close and personal.

This sets the stage for all Friends of The 24 Blog to say, "Eeeewww". And the Eeeewww factor can only go up as the stakes get higher between the two of them. (Wink wink.) The chemistry is about as volatile as limestone. Methinks that the 24 year old writers of 24, all amped up on Red Bull and Organic Blue Corn Tortilla Chips, erroneously believe that this story line will "Pursue and Engage" the fogeys in the 35-44 demographic. Um, nope.

5. Ricky is pursuing and engaging Jack.

This sets the stage for exactly nothing. Friend of The 24 Blog Kate read that Ricky was brought on before the writers actually had a job for him. That is clear.

6. Jack, Jack, Jack. Having decided to become a suicide bomber, Jack has stashed C-4 in his man purse so that he can go up in flames with the stereotypically nefarious Cheng...but only after he exchanges Awwwdrey for a circuit board to the suitcase nukes. This rogue action (previously endorsed by the brain damaged TEYOP) has put him in a world of hurt with Evil Veep's new administration, hence item 5, above.

Ricky screws up by failing to set a perimeter. Because he has rushed in to capture Jack before Jack could press the button on the detonator (huh? was there a detonator in his man purse, too?), Cheng has escaped.

(NB: Cheng now has the circuit board. But since Jack tossed it to him in a dark room, how does Cheng know it is the real thing? And as noted in comments last week, what is up with every firefight happening in the dark?)

This sets the stage for Jack to be under arrest again. It's back to CTU for you buddy. But maybe not...earlier, Jack had left a message on Bill's voicemail, revealing his plans. The old 24 would send Bill in to snag Jack and the two would go rogue together. (With Chloe's help.) Please, please, please let this be the case.

7. Awwwdrey is a mess. Other than hair issues (which I must not beat to death) (again) she appears to be suffering some kind of psychosis. How else to explain that she couldn't set the perimeter to snag Cheng?

This sets the stage for Jack to be tender. The 24 Blog hopes that it also sets the stage for the return of baby boomer hottie William Devane.

Ok, that's it for me. ("M" is back this week...girlfriend, you will be authoring some serious recaps in coming weeks. Because TEYOS (aka thirty-eight seven year old sister), you owe me! Hee hee.)

Kumar Resurfaces...

...in The Namesake, a lovely movie about family, the power of names to shape our identity, and about being new to America.

I also found a neat article in New York magazine, an interview with Kal Penn about his role in The Namesake, and racial stereotyping in Hollywood.

Nothing blows up in The Namesake, nobody gets whacked, no medical interrogations. My guess is that some 24 fans may prefer to stick with Harold and Kumar...(although I might guess that Friends of The 24 Blog might enjoy Kumar's new gig.)

Aaah Technology FINALLY!

Finally after leaving on Monday, we have technology. The timeshare place they tried to get us to buy at didn't have wireless high-speed Internet. Maybe, just maybe we would have bought if they had the technology there. I haven't watched all of it yet and I caught the last few minutes after hiking up to the 6th floor of the "condo" we were staying in carrying a very tired toddler. The elevator technology failed there too. I got to see Nadia in command saying PURSUE and ENGAGE. I found her *very* believable. After that, we hiked back down and changed rooms because there was no way I was asking the Hubby to bring all that stuff up 6 flights of stairs! The next building did have an elevator YAY.

I may not watch until I get home but I laffed my head off at the recap. I'm also going to wait to read all the entries and comments until I'm watching. I was sorry that I missed it live!

Boy I missed having technology. However my next post will have a special surprise :-) Stay tuned, but it might not get posted until Sunday when we are all settled in back at home! take care!
